Shayani Boral
As an artist, Shayani deeply understands the interconnection of all living and non-living elements, which science refers to as ecological balance. For her, this balance represents the very essence of the art of living. In a world increasingly marred by pollution, she often contemplates the sobering phrase, “My Earth is unsafe.” The mechanization of life threatens to dull the vibrancy of our surroundings, rendering them monochrome.
Shayani feels a profound responsibility to raise awareness about our inseparable relationship with nature. Our existence is intricately linked to the natural processes that sustain life, and this bond is invaluable—something that cannot be bought. Her dedication to her craft has been recognized through several prestigious awards, including the Certificate of Excellence from Artists of India in 2018, an Award of Appreciation from 27 Art Pont in 2017, the Sudhangshu Bikash Roy Award in 2004, and a Certificate of Merit from ABANTIKA, New Delhi, in 2002.
Her exhibition history includes significant events such as “Limousine,” organized by the Kala Care Group at the American Center in New Delhi (2023), “GENESIS” by the Kaarigari Foundation (2023), and the 14th International Art Exhibition Online hosted by the Jammu & Kashmir Center for Culture & Art (2023). She also participated in “Transcending Boundaries,” a group exhibition by the Kaarigari Foundation at Bikaner House, Delhi, in 2023, among other notable shows.
Shayani firmly believes that all elements, whether living or non-living, are interdependent. This interdependence, often described scientifically as ecological balance, is, for her, the art of living. In a time when pollution is an ever-present concern, the thought that resonates most with her is that “My Earth is unsafe.”
The rise of mechanical living threatens to transform our colorful world into shades of gray. As an artist, Shayani feels a strong obligation to promote awareness that we are part of this beautiful ecosystem and cannot detach ourselves from it. We rely on the natural processes that sustain life, and it is our responsibility to protect and cherish this planet, just as we care for our homes and loved ones. The art of living within this interconnected circle is a practice of responsibility—it is a commitment that cannot be purchased.
