This work explores how value changes through perception. The glazed pottery is placed on a pedestal, while the unglazed pottery rests directly on the soil, creating a contrast between respect and neglect, importance and ordinariness. For an artist, pottery carries time, labor, memory, and creativity. Each form holds emotional and physical effort, which is why the glazed works are elevated like precious objects. In contrast, the unglazed pottery merges with the soil, reflecting how many people see clay as something simple, common, or without meaning. Through this installation, I question how society assigns value to art. The same material can be seen either as a powerful artistic expression or merely as mud, depending on the viewer’s perspective.
